
French Guiana sits in the remote north-eastern corner of South America
Today, I had the great pleasure of touching down in Cayenne, the lush green tropical capital of French Guiana.
I flew here on Air France from Barcelona via Paris. I plan to spend a few days in various spots around the country to check out the nature, historical sites, and space station.
French Guiana is part of France, but it qualifies as a new ‘territory’, making this little-visited part of the world my 181st country/territory (out of a total of 266, according to the Been app).
I have been to 150 of the 195 UN-registered countries in the world.
As for South American countries, I have now almost visited all of them. Only Suriname and Guyana are left. I wonder where I might be heading next...
